67 Minutes Article

The Department of Corporate Services ( with its wellness programme)  along  with different Municipal departments have joined the world in a project called 67minutes that happens every year during the 18th of July as this was a birthday of the World icon Dr. Nelson Mandela who said in his own words : “It is in your hands now”  which means that everyone can make a difference to help and shape the world.

The Men Imbizo

On the 1st of August 2019 all Abaqulusi Municipality Male Employees were invited to discuss issues that concern and affect them and the community.

In the quest for wellness particularly for AbaQulusi Municipality men, issues involving violence, unemployment, children and women abuse, skills development as well as fighting against drug abuse were discussed and as a result during discussions it was discovered that  ‘Men’ are also victims of domestic violence , most of the victims still feel  ashamed to speak out about the abuse that they experience in their homes or at their communities.

Giving support to the needy and the vulnerable people in our communities is a priority to our municipality, which is why on Wednesday, April 5, 2017, the Mayor Councillor Martin Mtshali, Speaker Councillor Micheal Khumalo and municipal officials visited the Bhekuluzulu township to donate food parcels to families that were affected by very strong winds of 24 March 2017 which damaged their houses. More than 70 families were affected.

The Women’s day celebration held on Tuesday 27 August 2019 at King Zwelithini Hall. What a productively fulfilling day it was; where AbaQulusi Municipality women from all Sections got an opportunity to celebrate and reflect on Women’s achievements. The Women Celebration for AbaQulusi Officials has never been hosted before. It was  the first of its kind..


Launch of electrification project in eMahlathini, Mvunyane

The Deputy Mayor of AbaQulusi Municipality Cllr. Jerry Sibiya had on the 23 May 2016 unched introduced contractors for the electrification project of the community of eMahlathin in Mvunyane. The project will see 81 households being electrified at a tune of R1.5 million. The project will be managed by Isivuvu Technical solution and should be completed by June this year. This project will contribute greatly to the upliftment of the lives of this community. It will also provide a number of jobs for the locals during the implementation phase.
